The Stirling 1st Boys’ Water Polo team won the Port Rex Knockout Tournament this weekend. Stirling had an excellent tournament, beating Merrifield (10-1), Grey PE (8-2), Pearson (6-3) and Northwood from Durban 11-10 in the final. The score was 4 – 4 at the final whistle. The match went into a penalty shoot-out and scores were still locked at 7 – 7 after the five players had completed their shots at goal. The match went into sudden death mode and the players matched each other shot for shot until Stirling goalkeeper Nathan Taylor reached well to his right to save a very good shot from a Northwood player. This resulted in Stirling winning the final 11 – 10. Well done boys!
